Raw Vegan Crumb Donut - Tastes like your cheating!
I got really busy this week and forgot to take my thyroid activator. Boy, does my body know how to get my attention! 9 lbs of weight gain in 3 days! Took the activator and in 2 days lost the 9 lbs! Ok, I get it! For me, I need it to lose the weight. I'm real happy that my blood pressure is in the normal range again. And my blood sugar has dropped 200 points! Still not in the normal range, but at least I'm out of the stroke range!

Back on Track!!!
Well, I got some more and my weight has started going down again. And I started eating raw vegan recently and now my headaches are gone. I tried eating "normal" again and my headaches came back. So, I am back to eating raw vegan again and I'll be posting more recipes with pictures. So look in the recipe section.
Today, I posted a yummy Pumpkin Seed Pesto Veggie Fettucini. It has dehydrated mushrooms and tomatoes that taste like sauted sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms. Yum, Yum!!!

I Had to Break the Master Cleanse
I made my lemonade mix and I couldn’t drink it. It was so weird. My throat just closed up. I couldn’t even drink my water. I used to be able to guzzle a ½ gallon of water at a time. But now, every time I drink something, my throat would close up. I could only drink little sips at a time. I started getting really worried that I would dehydrate when I noticed I probably only drank 2 cups of liquid by 3 pm. So, I decided I better try something else. I had 2 bowls of broth and some wasa crackers the rest of the day.
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Do you suppose it has something to do with the Epsom salts instead of Sea Salt?
Well, I guess I better listen to my body and close down this cleanse.

I'm So Excited!
And I feel so good! Lot's of energy! I've gotten a lot done today. I even cooked my family a special St. Patrick's Day Dinner. I made Leprechaun Smoothies, Cheesy Cream of Broccoli Soup, Cabbage, potatoes, Meat & Onions andI made Irish Soda bread with cranberries. No, I didn't eat any. I didn't even taste any. I had my husband and kids finish seasoning it. I'm not hungry at all, so I thought I'd try to cook something for them. I blended a few leaves of spinach in my lemonade to celebrate.

Progress - No Eye Swelling Today!
Usually, I use Visine A.C. drops and cold washcloth compressions to bring the swelling down. And I'm not able to drive or see very well on the computer.
Also, it amazes me that I haven't been hungry this whole time. I think because I'm always filling my stomach up with liquids. Sometimes the smell from the families food gets to me. But, not so bad that I can't resist.

Shoulder Inflammation Gone!
This is what motivates me to do this detox. I am so sick of the eye allergies. It got so bad I can’t see to drive so; I bought some 24 hour non-drowsy allergy medicine. It didn’t make me drowsy…..until about 7 hours later and then I would pass out hard. I then would wake up in a drugged stupor. And my allergies came back in 12 hours, so I had to take twice the dose for it to work. Then, I went to the health food store and they recommended Homeopathic Adrenal Support. It worked great for a week. I thought I found my solution. Then my allergies broke though that and is getting worse.
OK, I’m not talking just a few sneezes and a running nose. It usually affects one eye at a time. It starts itching like a thousand mosquito bites inside my eyelid. It also feels like hives on the outside of the eye with itching red swollen welts. My white part of my eye swells and blisters so much it covers part of the colored part of my eye. The outside eyelid swells also. I was thinking about taking a picture, but that would just gross everyone out.

Time to Detox
My raw foods are slowly healing my body but I decided I needed to have a faster relief. I have had the eye allergies for over 3 years and the shoulder inflammation is a sign to me that my body is not controlling the inflammation well. So, I believe in order to make progress, I need to rid my body of toxins that are causing the allergies which are causing inflammation which is causing the allergies, diabetes and another potential stroke. So, even though I’ve made great improvement, I feel I need to focus in on getting rid of the toxins that are causing all the problems in order to stop this vicious cycle.
The length of this detox will depend on the results I’m getting. I will still report as this is a part of my diabetic cure solution. Then, I will continue back on the Raw food diet again. Because, I still believe it is the best way to eat.
I’ve decided to use the Master Cleanse program, but I will be using stevia in the beginning instead of Maple Syrup because of the potential to raise my blood sugar. If my blood sugar gets too low, I will start using the Maple Syrup to provide the carbs, nutrients and calories that I might need.

Let's Talk Poop
The main job of the colon is to reabsorb the liquid nutrients. When it gets into the large intestines, the liquids are absorbed enough so you should have firm soft poop. If it stays inside too long, the environment will change and toxins will form. This will be absorbed back into your body and cause problems. So, it's best to get it out on time.
Did you know meat and dairy have no fiber? That could be why they are known to be constipating. The best fiber sources are greens. So, remember... If you're eating green, you're getting lean!

Coconut Oil Hasn't Slowed Down Weight Loss
Another thing I'm not doing in following the Hcg protocal is in using oil on my skin. I put coconut oil on my face, neck, hands, arms, elbows and feet almost every day since I started this Hcg Raw Vegan Protocal. So far, it hasn't slowed down my weight loss.
Although, I ate until I was full yesterday I only ate 686 calories. And I only lost .8 lbs. My body either needs more calories or my body is adjusting and losing slower. So, today I ate 1022 calories and we'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm really not very hungry though and it takes me hours to finish off the soup. At night I'm not very hungry, but I try to eat something.

Wow! And I'm full. Not like the small amount of Hcg soup that left me still wanting more on the regular Hcg protocal. I thought I had to be hungry on the Hcg diet in order to lose weight. But, when I drink the raw vegan soup it takes me all afternoon and I get so full, I have to remind myself to finish it off.
I can't wait to see how this plays out. How high can I go with the raw vegan calories and still lose weight?

Food Addiction
I started noticing I’m not craving sweets anymore. Not even when people eat them in front of me. I used to have to have something sweet before bed. I think it was because it made me sleepy and helped me sleep more deeply. But, now I sleep very deep and sound all night long without waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.
But, I also notice I now have an addiction to corn chips. It started when I made fresh salsa which is healthy and I bought natural sea salt corn chips to go with it. It hasn’t seemed to bother my blood pressure. But, I get to the point when I’m out, all I can think about is getting more. I just have to have more chips. And I’m going through a lot of bags lately.
Then, I read an article on Dr. Mercola’s web site. O.K. grains turn into sugar! I thought I was over my sugar addiction, but now I realize I’ve just changed the source. So, when I’m done with my last bag of chips today (You didn’t expect me to throw them away, did you?), I’m not going to buy any more. I’m going to dehydrate some zucchini and yellow squash and use them as my chips and I’ll also make some flax crackers too. That should help me wean off of the chip cravings. I’ll post those recipes too. It would be interesting to see if this brings my blood sugar down more.

Is it Selfish for me to take care of myself?
As if this wasn’t enough, I get a phone call at one in the morning from my son in law. He said my daughter, who had a miscarriage four days earlier, was bleeding heavily. (He said the bathroom looked like a murder scene) So, he called for an ambulance and he wanted me to come over and watch the kids so he could get to the hospital. I reminded him I was 2 hours away. I asked him if he called my other daughter who lives next door to them. He said he couldn’t get a hold of her. So, I called and called until she answered. And she rushed over. I couldn’t sleep that night worrying what was happening. I finally called back at 4 am. And she was doing fine.
OK, Then my daughter who’s “Babysitting” informs me that she made an appointment for her two year old to have the dentist work on his teeth in the OR at the hospital. But he has to have his pediatrisian fill out a form first. So, he needs to go to the doctor and then to the hospital early in the morning. So, we had to load up everyone in the truck with overnight bags and drive them back to my house for several days! (And she could get her medication which was now due). All the grandkids stayed for three nights! House was trashed!
I would estimate my meals averaged about 80% raw. But, with the stress and 20% bad foods my numbers were up:

What’s the solution?
Eating healthy foods will increase our immunity and protect us from both inflammation from infections and inflammation from eating the wrong types of food. The wrong types of food include processed and highly refined foods like; white sugar, white flour, hydrogenated oils and other bad fats including deep fried and rancid oils and other foods that cause an acidic condition.
What kinds of foods are anti-inflammatory?
Anti-inflammatory foods include high levels of vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. Choose dark green leafy vegetables, green and brightly colored fresh vegetables and fruit like these:
Spinach, kale, collard greens, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cayenne peppers, winter squash, carrots, shitake mushroom, sweet potato, avocado, olives.
Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, peaches, mangoes, cantaloupe, apples, tart cherries, papaya.
Turmeric, ginger, oregano, rosemary, green tea, red onions, garlic, flaxseeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, sesame seeds, kelp, almonds, almond butter, hazelnuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, evening primrose oil.
Extra Virgin olive oil, coconut oil, omega- 3 fatty acids.
What I find very interesting is these foods are the exact foods I have been using to cure my diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

15 lbs lost in 7 days. I’m Now Under 200 lbs!!!
I have 18 more days of weight loss before I go back to the doctors. I really want to show him I made a great choice of canceling my meds. Well, OK, Maybe I’m asking too much. I hope he’ll just not be mad and start lecturing me and maybe even cancel me as a patient because I want to still monitor myself by tests. My numbers are just as good, if not better than when I was on the meds, but, with no side effects and depression. I just know if I get this weight off, my diabetes will be in control.
My husband just informed me that I didn’t snore last night. In fact, he had to lean over to see if I was still breathing, because he said I usually breathe hard! Me! I don’t snore! Do I? Well, I guess I don’t anymore!

Green Smoothies For Depression
I found out through some research that when you have a stroke in the right brain hemisphere, you have a tendency to suffer from depression brought on by the physical damage to this area of the brain. Let alone the emotional depression that one suffers from the disabling effects of a stroke.
I have suffered depression in the past and my sister committed suicide from depression. So I’m very familiar with the affects and the medications. I was a bit worried after the stroke because of several depressing and crying moments. But, I didn’t want to go the medication route of deadening my feelings again. So, can you see why I’m so happy today! The side benefit of the journey to cure my diabetes is, I’m not depressed anymore!

My leg is now Strong again after the stroke.
I did have a tough moment today. My husband cooked some Mexican Soup. It filled up the whole house. It was very temping! I just stayed in my room and didn’t get to eat until 4:oo pm when the smell died down. This was my first weekend with everyone home. Maybe, I should make up food on Friday’s, so on weekend's I can rush in and out of the kitchen fast to prevent temptations. It was funny though, how I wasn’t really hungry until 4pm. I think my stomach has shrunken.

Stroke! Big Wake Up Call!
I decided to start this blog to help me commit to this lifestyle change and to help others that might need encouragement on their journey. And if I record things, it might help me exercise my brain and remember things.
To sum up how I got to this point, I noticed I was having problems with my blood sugar and blood pressure probably about 10 years ago. I started monitoring my blood sugar and blood pressure on and off. And decided to go the natural route by losing weight and eating better to correct this. I went on several diets:

Most diets I would lose the first week, then plateau. My doctor said I must be eating too much, so that's when I ate only one 200 calorie frozen diet meal a day. I gained 10 lbs that week! The only success I had was with raw vegan. But it was hard to stick to it because of no support system and my family eating differently. (The smells of Pizza and other cooked foods in the kitchen were hard to resist) But, I did managed to go from 258 lbs in 2000 to 225 in 2009.
This was just too slow for me, so I went on the hcg homeopathic diet in October 2000. I went down to 200 lbs. I took a break during the holidays and was going to start on Hcg again in January.
Well, January 3rd, 2010, I had a stroke. My blood sugar went up to 464 and my blood pressure was 149/111. It scared me so bad I did everything the doctor said: I checked my blood sugar at least 5 times a day, injected insulin 3+ times a day, I took 2 Blood sugar pills, 1 Blood Pressure Pill and an adult aspirin every day. This was hard for me because I'm the type of person that doesn't even take a Tylenol for a headache. But, I was determined not to have another stroke.
My weight started climbing fast. So, I went on a Vegan diet. My numbers started dropping, but my weight was still climbing. I had gained 16 lbs in a matter of weeks. I started to have burning when I peed. I started drinking more water and drinking cranberry juice. One day it got so severe, I just sat on the toilet crying for hours. I looked up my meds on the Internet and every one of them had uti as a side effect! Sure it was a low and uncommon side effect, but I was the lucky one in the low percentage to get this side effect. I decided I can't keep going on like this. How can I get healthier with fast weight gain and severe side effects?
